Power BI Reporting Modernization

The client needed to migrate QVD-based logic and Qlik reports to Snowflake and Power BI, enhancing performance, scalability, and efficiency. The transition streamlined data processing, reduced file sizes, and optimised report generation — focused on Value Chain function reports including Order Monitoring, Sales Performance, Wastage Analysis, and Forecasting Dashboards.

Identifying the unique obstacles that hinder progress and uncovering the root causes behind complex business problems.

Migrating QVD-based logic to Snowflake or Power Query while ensuring existing functionalities were fully preserved and performance was enhanced was the primary technical challenge.

Existing Qlik-based reports needed to be migrated to Power BI, requiring careful assessment of current transformations and identification of data requirements and quality issues.

Performance issues — including slow reports, high refresh times, large file sizes, and complex data processing — significantly impacted the efficiency of business reporting.

Implementing Row Level Security (RLS) and Object Level Security (OLS) for margin-sensitive data was a key security requirement across the new reporting environment.

Enhancing Value Chain function reports — covering Order Monitoring, Sales Performance, Wastage Analysis, and Forecasting — by integrating data across Plan, Source, Make, and Deliver functions required complex data modelling.

Developing strategic, innovative solutions designed to address each challenge with precision, ensuring measurable impact and long-term success.

Developed a data strategy through stakeholder-centric workshops, assessed current Qlik-based QVD transformations, and identified data requirements and quality issues across all reporting areas.

Set up data infrastructure and technology with a focus on security, centralised data to create a data-driven organisation, and built new and enhanced existing reporting in Power BI.

Integrated Power BI as the single source of truth, established security policies including RLS and OLS, and developed data models and reports to meet all business needs.

Constructed a comprehensive data quality framework to enforce data quality rules and ensure data validation aligned with existing business insights and reporting standards.

Enhanced Value Chain function reports — including Order Monitoring, Sales Performance, Wastage Analysis, and Forecasting — by integrating data across Plan, Source, Make, and Deliver functions.
